The end of the year is the perfect time to renovate and prepare your home. In addition to the traditional cleaning and reorganizing, there is one key point that often goes unnoticed: checking your windows.
Among the many benefits offered by PVC windows, one that really sets them apart is how little maintenance they require. While other materials require constant upkeep, PVC does not need to be treated for waterproofing or repainted. However, this does NOT mean that it does not require any maintenance whatsoever.
If your home or project has Deceuninck windows, this checklist will help you keep them in optimal condition and make the most of PVC technology and its thermal and acoustic properties.
PVC windows should be cleaned regularly, or at least when there are visible signs of dirt. For non-porous, smooth surfaces and everyday dirt caused by dust and rain, a liquid soap solution, warm water, and a soft cloth are sufficient. For windows with colored film, cleaners must be suitable for acrylic surfaces. Cleaning products can cause different types of damage to PVC profiles.
Proper maintenance not only extends its service life, but also ensures comfort, energy efficiency, and safety throughout the year. Deceuninck recommends the following regular cleaning procedure, as needed:
Use soap and water to clean the profiles.
Renew the air several times a day to prevent humidity.
Use only soapy water or mild products.
Remove dust, pollen, and accumulated dirt.
Lubricate hardware, handles, and hinges once a year.
Secure loose screws.
Clean the joints with a cloth dampened with special lubricant.
Prevent clogging by periodically checking the frame drains.
Remove dust and debris from internal areas to prevent mold and dirt buildup.
