Deceuninck's Strong Commitment to Recycling and the Environment
It is important to note that more and more plastics are being recycled. This trend has the potential to transform industries such as construction and packaging, as well as reduce the amount of plastic waste in landfills. In the recycling industry, we can expect the development of new technologies and processes that enable more efficient and effective recycling.
Our leadership position in the circular economy is strengthened by our state-of-the-art recycling plant, equipped with advanced technologies, located in Diksmuide (Belgium). Located in the heart of Europe, we supply recycled PVC to our extrusion plants. During the recycling process, contamination is removed, shredded and sorted by color. With this, we have managed to gradually increase our recycling capacity from 8,000 tons per year in 2017 to 45,000 tons of recycled material annually.
In Latin America, several plants have been integrated into the circular economy. In Chile, 300 tons of recycled material are processed and sent to the Colombia plant, where 730 tons per year of customer offcuts and reprocessed material are processed.
It is important to note that the material that is recycled is obtained from the collection of post-industrial waste (both our own waste and that of our customers), since PVC windows that have a useful life of 30 to 40 years are gradually being replaced. We promote and encourage all manufacturers and installers to collaborate and join efforts in the recycling process.
Which materials can be recycled?
The benefits of recycling PVC are many, understanding that PVC can be recycled more than 10 times without any loss of mechanical capacity and delivering a new life cycle of 35 years. Therefore, the potential of PVC rises to 350 years.
Deceuninck reaffirms its commitment to environmental improvement and sustainability. Through constant innovation, the implementation of advanced technologies and the pursuit of more eco-friendly practices, we are dedicated to building a greener and more prosperous future for generations to come. We will continue to work tirelessly to drive positive change and protect the environment we all share.
